Highland birding tours
Day 1: We head to
Antisana Ecological Reserve located 50 Kilometers southeast of Quito, in the
province of Napo. It has an extension of
120.000 hectares and its climate varies from cold to subtropical because it is
located in the border of the amazon.
In the reserve are the Antisana volcano and a lake where we can find diverse types of birds. The paramo of the Antisana is a wonderful place to observe the following species: Andean cóndor, Variable Howk, Carunculated Caracara, Aplomado Falcon, Black Winged Ground Dove, Black Faced Ibis, Paramo Ground Tyrant, and Andean Siskin.

Day 2: Departure from Hotel in Quito at 5:00 am. We drive to the Papallacta antennas, where the weather is cold in the paramo, the ride has an amazing scenery and easy to see species like: Andean Teal, Yellow Billed Pintail, Andean Gull, Ecuadorian Hillstar, Blue Mantled Trornbill, Rufous Bellied Seedsnipe, Stout Billed Cinclodes , Bar Winged Cinclodes, Tawny Antpitta.
Day 3: After being picked up at the hotel at 5:30 am, we will go to Yanacocha Reserve, at an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level, on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano. Throughout the tour you will find many mixed flocks of birds.
